Mike Kayihura, Moogisha to headline Twilight Picnic & Film Soiree anniversary

Every story starts with a spark, and for Project Somnia, it was the simple idea of creating a space where people could gather, connect and step outside the ordinary.
What began as an intimate picnic and film night has, in just a year, become one of Kigali’s favourite cultural escapes.
On Sunday, September 7, Project Somnia marks its first anniversary with a special Twilight Picnic & Film Soirée at Amashyo Grounds.
Since its debut, the soirée has captured Kigali’s imagination. Guests arrive to find beanbags and blankets laid out, share food and drinks, and dive into games and activities meant to bring people together. As night falls, live music sets the tone before everyone gathers around the big screen for a film under the stars.’
What sets Project Somnia apart is its sincerity. Built on creativity and consistency, it has grown through word of mouth and trust, turning into one of the city’s most anticipated evenings.
For the anniversary, the organisers are raising the bar with performances by Rwandan artistes Mike Kayihura and Moogisha. The night will blend music, food, games and film into the kind of soulful twilight experience that has made the soirée special from the start.
“A year in, the Twilight Picnic & Film Soirée has already reshaped Kigali’s night scene,” the organizer said, adding, “This milestone is more than an event. It is a celebration of what has been built and a promise of what is still to come.”
The organizer says that the anniversary is more than a party. It is a celebration of what has been built and a promise of what is still to come. Tickets are now available, starting at Rwf15,000, with group packages up to Rwf80,000.
