Three Killed in Missile Strike at Haifa’s Bazan Refinery; Multiple Fatalities Reported Across Israel

Three workers were killed late Sunday night after a missile struck the Bazan oil refinery complex in Haifa. The victims, residents of Haifa and the nearby Krayot area, were inside the facility’s most protected inner shelter when the missile hit near their location. The blast caused a severe fire and structural collapse, trapping the three beneath rubble. Officials believe they succumbed to smoke inhalation and the intense heat.

Five workers were in the protected area at the time; two managed to escape unharmed, while three were found dead after several hours of rescue efforts. The attack was broadcast live by Al Jazeera and other international media outlets, though Israeli authorities only later confirmed the refinery as the strike site. Energy Minister Eli Cohen visited the scene early Monday, meeting with company executives and offering support to the staff.

In addition to the Bazan strike, missile attacks overnight resulted in multiple other casualties. Four people were killed in Petah Tikva, and a 75-year-old man, Avraham Cohen, died in Bnei Brak. The recent wave of strikes marks one of the deadliest escalation phases in the ongoing conflict.

Investigations and rescue operations continue as authorities assess the full extent of damage and casualties.
