Two Congolese soldiers clash over woman, Teacher injured in crossfire

Two soldiers from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) clashed over a woman in Lubero territory, North Kivu Province, leaving a teacher injured by a stray bullet.
The incident occurred on July 15, 2025, in Vuyinga village, Baswagha groupement. A local resident described the confrontation:
“We witnessed a tragic fight between two men over a woman. One soldier attempted to shoot the other, but the intended target dodged the bullet, which unfortunately hit a teacher nearby.”
The injured teacher was initially taken to the Vuyinga health center. However, due to the severity of the injury and the facility’s limited capacity, he was later transferred to Musienene Hospital for advanced treatment.
Reports indicate that the soldier responsible for the shooting remains at large and has not been arrested.
