RwandAir Suspends Flights to Qatar and UAE
KIGALI — Rwanda’s national carrier, RwandAir, has temporarily suspended flights scheduled for today to and from Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, citing security concerns affecting the region’s airspace.
In a statement issued by the airline’s management, the move was described as a precautionary measure aimed at safeguarding passengers, crew members, and aircraft. The suspension affects all flights that were due to depart from or arrive in Rwanda from the two Gulf destinations.
RwandAir said it is closely monitoring developments in the Middle East and working with relevant aviation authorities to assess the situation. The airline added that services will resume once it is confirmed that conditions are safe for normal flight operations.
Passengers with bookings on the affected routes have been advised to contact RwandAir’s customer service centers or authorized travel agents for assistance with rescheduling, rebooking, or refunds.
The decision comes amid heightened security concerns in parts of the Middle East that have disrupted several international carriers’ operations. Aviation authorities in the region have reportedly issued advisories prompting airlines to review flight paths and schedules as a safety precaution.
