Love in Disguise? Prince Kiiiz on Calling La Reïna His Sister While Dating Her
Discover how producer Prince Kiiiz pretended La Reina was his sister to boost her career. Now supporting her EP debut, the musical duo plans to impress fans with their collaboration.
La Reina began her music journey just last year, making waves with her breakout songs like "Nditinya." Now, she is gearing up for the release of her debut EP (Extended Play), showcasing fresh tracks that promise to elevate her profile as an artist.
When media outlets initially covered her work, rumors abounded suggesting that she was the sister of acclaimed producer Prince Kiiiz. At the time, both Prince Kiiiz and La Reina supported this claim, and the idea quickly gained traction.
During an exclusive interview with InyaRwanda, Prince Kiiiz revealed their strategy behind creating this narrative, explaining that it was aimed at boosting La Reina’s confidence as well as helping her transition into Rwanda's competitive music scene.
He shared, "Breaking into the music industry isn’t easy. The way people view newcomers can make things more complicated. When someone is seen as your sibling, it evokes empathy and helps people connect with them emotionally. Even if the truth comes out later, people are more willing to accept it because they’ve already formed a connection."
According to Prince Kiiiz, this clever approach was key to helping La Reina build a strong foundation for her career. Now, with her talent widely recognized, public interest in the truth about their relationship no longer poses a challenge.
Prince Kiiiz also shared how their romantic relationship blossomed out of a deep friendship connected through their shared passion for music. The duo initially bonded by playing and collaborating in different bands while they were still students.
"It all started with music," he said. "We were young students who loved performing and often worked together in bands at various venues. Over time, our friendship strengthened, eventually transforming into a romantic relationship."
Despite both working in the same field, Prince Kiiiz emphasized that their partnership is an advantage rather than a barrier. Their shared passion enables them to deliver high-quality music projects.
He explained, "Each of us knows exactly what is expected of us professionally. Being in a relationship doesn’t interfere with our work. On the contrary, it’s an incredible opportunity to support one another, ensuring that our projects meet the highest standards."
Prince Kiiiz is a celebrated name in Rwanda’s music production scene. Having started young by mastering musical instruments and performing in bands, he has consistently refined his craft over the years.
Transitioning into song production, he also ventured into creating music as an artist, releasing notable tracks such as "Uwa Danger," which highlight his ever-evolving artistry.
Over his career, Prince Kiiiz has worked on projects with numerous Rwandan artists, earning their trust and building loyalty among fans of Rwandan music.
In addition to his technical expertise in sound production, Prince Kiiiz is widely recognized for his songwriting prowess and ability to direct complete music projects—from conceptualization to final release.
Currently, Prince Kiiiz is channeling his efforts into mentoring emerging artists, including his partner La Reina. Her upcoming EP, produced and directed by Prince Kiiiz, is expected to pave the way for her success in the industry.
Prince Kiiiz revealed that his decision to pose as La Reina’s brother was aimed at creating societal interest in her career.
La Reina is on the verge of releasing her EP with Prince Kiiiz as her guiding force. 
Their six-year friendship blossomed into a romantic partnership—strengthened by their mutual love for music. 
Prince Kiiiz has recently established himself further with the release of his latest track, "Uwa Danger."
