Iran nearly succeeded assassinating Mike Pompeo in Europe in 2022, new book reveals - report
The book reveals that then-presidential candidate Donald Trump and his campaign were informed by intel that the Islamic Republic recruited hit men against them who were on US soil at the time.

The Islamic Republic of Iran nearly succeeded in assassinating former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, according to a new book called "2024: How Trump Retook the White House and the Democrats Lost America," which was obtained by The Washington Post one month ahead of its publication in July.
The report published by The Washington Post on Friday cited the book saying that the time and place where the assassination nearly succeeded was while Pompeo was in a hotel in Paris three years ago.
The book provides no further details than that, the report said.
Last September, then-presidential candidate Donald Trump and his campaign were informed by intelligence that the Islamic Republic had recruited hit men against them who were on US soil at the time.
The book obtained by the US newspaper is authored by Josh Dawsey, Tyler Pager and Isaac Arnsdorf, and centers around the US 2024 presidential campaign.
