715 FARDC Soldiers Complete French-Led Jungle Warfare Training
A total of 715 soldiers from the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) have completed a 41-day intensive jungle warfare training program conducted by French military instructors.
The closing ceremony took place on Monday at the Bahuma Military Training Center, marking a significant milestone in the growing military cooperation between the Democratic Republic of Congo and France. The program focused on equipping troops with advanced tactics and operational skills required for combat in dense forest environments.
According to officials, the primary objective of the training was to strengthen FARDC’s capabilities in jungle warfare, a critical need given that vast parts of the country are covered by forested terrain. The initiative is also seen as part of broader efforts to modernize and professionalize specialized military units, including elite jungle combat brigades.
For France, the exercise signals renewed commitment to defense collaboration with the DRC, particularly in enhancing the operational readiness of specialized forces.
