Rwanda Seeks Mauritania’s Backing for Mushikiwabo’s OIF Bid
The Minister of Sports, Nelly Mukazayire, has delivered a special message from President Paul Kagame to President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, marking a step forward in diplomatic engagement between Rwanda and Mauritania.
Officials described the mission as successful, with discussions focusing on Rwanda’s request for Mauritania’s support of Louise Mushikiwabo in her bid for a third term as Secretary-General of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF).
Mushikiwabo, who has led the Francophone bloc since 2019, is seeking renewed backing from member states ahead of upcoming decisions on the organization’s leadership.
