Rwandan Niyo David joins NK Veres Rivne on Five-Year Deal
Rwandan rising star Niyo David has officially joined Ukrainian Premier League side NK Veres Rivne on a five-year contract, marking a significant step in the 18-year-old’s professional career.
The Rivne-based club announced the signing on Sunday, February 22, 2026, through its official social media platforms, confirming that the young midfielder had completed his move.
“The fourth new signing for Veres Rivne has been secured. Eighteen-year-old David Niyo has agreed to a five-year contract with the club,” the statement read.
Niyo arrives in Ukraine after an impressive spell in the Rwandan Premier League, where he was one of the standout performers for Kiyovu Sports. This season, he scored three goals and provided four assists, establishing himself as one of the club’s key players.
His performances also earned him a maiden call-up to Rwanda’s senior national team, Rwanda national football team, commonly known as Amavubi, in 2025. Prior to that, Niyo represented Rwanda at various youth levels, featuring for the U-15, U-17, and U-20 national teams.
Sources indicate that Niyo could earn a monthly salary of approximately Rwf 2 million, with annual increments tied to his performance. He is expected to join Veres Rivne for the second half of the Ukrainian Premier League season.
As of the latest league standings, Veres Rivne sit ninth with 21 points, as they aim to strengthen their squad for the remainder of the campaign.
