Walikale: Traffic resumes between Kashebere and Mungazi after a five-day interruption following clashes between AFC/M23 and FARDC supported by the Wazalendo

Traffic resumed this Friday, June 5, on the Kashebere-Mungazi road section in the Luberike group (Walikale territory) after five days of suspension following clashes between the FARDC supported by the wazalendo and the AFC/M23 rebels in Kibati.

The resumption of traffic is due to the withdrawal of the FARDC-Wazalendo coalition from Kibati this Thursday. Government forces and the Wazalendo retreated towards Mungazi, abandoning Kibati to AFC/M23 rebels. The casualties from these clashes are not yet known, but there are reports of population displacement in the villages surrounding Kibati.

The resumption of traffic on this road thus allows the delivery to Walikale of manufactured products from Goma, which were blocked in Kashebere and Nyabiondo.
