Rwanda Suspends Ingufu Gin Ltd, NBG Ltd, and Several Other Beverage Factories
Rwanda FDA has shut down multiple alcoholic beverage manufacturers, including Ingufu Gin Ltd and NBG Ltd, after regulatory inspections found compliance issues.
The Rwanda Food and Drugs Authority (Rwanda FDA) has ordered the closure of several alcoholic beverage manufacturing companies and revoked their operating licenses following inspections that found they had failed to comply with regulatory requirements.
In a statement issued on August 2, 2026, Rwanda FDA said the enforcement action is part of ongoing efforts to protect public health and ensure that products available on the Rwandan market meet established quality and safety standards.
The authority announced that all alcoholic beverages produced by the affected manufacturers must be immediately withdrawn from the market. Producers have been instructed to begin recalling their products, while distributors and retailers have been ordered to stop selling the affected beverages and return any remaining stock to suppliers or manufacturers.
Among the companies ordered to cease operations is Ingufu Gin Ltd, which manufactures brands including Red Waragi, Rabiant Gin, Ngufu Gin, King's Vodka, Royal Castle Gin, Medal Gin, G&S Rum, New House Potable Spirit, Club Potable Spirit, and Hometown Potable Spirit.
Also affected is NBG Ltd, whose products include United Flavored Gin, Bombastic Coconut Flavored Gin, Ingwe Flavored Gin, Amerikan Flavored Gin, Maguma Gin, and Fimbo Blended Banana Brandy.
Other manufacturers ordered to close are SKY Drop Industries Ltd, Africana Buffalo Ltd, NOPA Company Ltd, Roots Investment Group Ltd, Rugali Agro-processing Company, and Zhonglu Industrial Liability Company Ltd.
Rwanda FDA urged members of the public to immediately stop consuming the listed products and called on manufacturers, distributors, and retailers to fully comply with the directives. The agency warned that failure to comply could result in additional enforcement measures in accordance with the law.
The regulator also announced that inspections and compliance assessments are continuing nationwide and indicated that additional companies could face similar sanctions if they are found to be in violation of the country's food and beverage regulations.
Rwanda FDA emphasized that the measures are intended to safeguard consumers' health and ensure that only products meeting the required quality and safety standards remain on the market.
The announcement comes just hours after the authority suspended all permits for the importation of ethanol, also known as neutral spirit, and halted the processing of new import applications as part of broader regulatory measures aimed at strengthening oversight of the alcoholic beverage industry.
