Rwanda's Shaddyboo Undergoes Drug Rehabilitation Following RIB Investigation

Rwandan socialite Mbabazi Shadia, popularly known as Shaddyboo, has not been arrested as widely rumored on social media. Instead, she has been admitted to the Isange Rehabilitation Centre in Huye to receive treatment for drug use, according to the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB).

RIB spokesperson Dr. Thierry B. Murangira confirmed that Shaddyboo was taken to the rehabilitation facility voluntarily following findings made during an ongoing investigation.

"Mbabazi Shadia is not under arrest. Based on the results of the forensic investigation conducted during the inquiry, and with her consent, the Rwanda Investigation Bureau referred her to a rehabilitation centre to help her overcome drug use, receive psychological support, and identify the underlying issues that may have contributed to her substance abuse," Dr. Murangira said.

According to RIB, the decision to send Shaddyboo to rehabilitation is intended not only to help her recover from drug addiction but also to assess and address the root causes behind her substance use.

Shaddyboo was admitted to the Isange Rehabilitation Centre on July 6, 2026, days after reports emerged alleging that she had been sexually assaulted by Rwandan musician Yugi Umukaraza after he allegedly intoxicated her.

During its preliminary investigation, RIB arrested Yugi Umukaraza on allegations of rape and drug-related offences.

The case file has since been submitted to the National Public Prosecution Authority, which is expected to decide whether to formally prosecute the musician or order his release.

Shaddyboo is one of Rwanda's most recognizable entertainment personalities, widely known for her strong social media presence and fashion influence, where she has built a large following through sharing photos and videos with her fans.
