Rwanda international  Noam Emeran has expressed his pride and excitement after receiving his first-ever call-up to the national football team, Amavubi.

The 23-year-old winger, who plays for FC Groningen in the Netherlands, was named in Rwanda’s 24-man squad for upcoming international friendly matches against the Comoros and Tanzania scheduled for June.

Emeran's selection comes after several years of efforts by the Rwanda Football Federation to convince him to represent his parents’ homeland. Despite interest from Rwanda dating back nearly three years, the player had previously been hesitant to commit to the national team.

Following the announcement of his inclusion in the squad, Emeran shared an emotional message on Instagram, expressing his enthusiasm about beginning a new chapter with Amavubi.

“I am very happy and deeply honored to join the Rwanda national team. Representing my country is a tremendous privilege, and this marks the beginning of a new journey that we will write together through passion, hard work, and unity,” he wrote.

Born in Paray-le-Monial, France, in 2002, Emeran is the son of former Rwanda international Fritz Emeran and a Rwandan mother, making him eligible to represent the East African nation.

His football journey began in the youth ranks of FC Brussels in Belgium before moving to French side L’Entente Sannois Saint-Gratien. He later joined Amiens SC, then competing in France’s top flight.

Although he never made a senior appearance for Amiens, Emeran quickly attracted attention from several European clubs, including Manchester United F.C.. His talent earned comparisons with players such as Gaël Kakuta, Anthony Martial, and Neymar.

In 2019, shortly after signing his first professional contract at the age of 17, Emeran joined Manchester United’s academy, where he spent four years developing his game before leaving in the summer of 2023.

He subsequently signed for FC Groningen, where he continues to build his professional career.
