In response to escalating security concerns, the United States government has issued a strong advisory for all American citizens to depart from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) while conditions permit.
The advisory comes alongside confirmation that N’Djili Airport in Kinshasa remains open for commercial operations. “N’Djili Airport is currently operational for commercial flights,” a State Department spokesperson noted. “We advise U.S. citizens to leave the country via these flights when they believe it is safe to reach the airport.”
The call for evacuation reflects the deteriorating situation in parts of the DRC, where increased instability has prompted international concern. The U.S. Embassy in Kinshasa has been actively communicating with American nationals, providing guidance on safe travel to the airport amidst the uncertain environment.
This advisory marks a significant escalation in U.S. travel warnings for the region, urging anyone in the DRC to assess their situation carefully and plan their departure if they feel capable of doing so safely.
