Uganda will send soldiers to Moscow to support Putin if necessary-Muhoozi

Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the son of Yoweri Museveni, the president of Uganda, declared that in the occasion of a “imperialist” threat, Ugandan troops would be sent to defend Moscow.

“Call me +Putinist+ if you want, we Uganda should send soldiers to defend Moscow if ever it was threatened by imperialists,” he wrote on Twitter.

“The West is wasting its time with useless pro-Ukrainian propaganda,” added the president’s son, a staunch supporter of Vladimir Putin.

He also announced on Thursday the creation of a television and radio channel bearing his brand, “MK.”

This month, Kainerugaba, 48, who is accustomed to making divisive remarks on Twitter, declared his intention to run for president in 2026.

Yoweri Museveni made the announcement on October 18, 2022, after a string of divisive tweets in early October, including one in which he specifically threatened to invade Kenya. Yoweri Museveni also has three daughters.

In UN votes on the Ukrainian conflict, including one in February on the first anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Uganda has abstained. This vote demanded that Moscow withdraw its soldiers from the nation.

In July, during a tour of Africa by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Kainerugaba said, referring to Russia, “How can we be against someone who has never hurt us?

Because of its support for African freedom groups that were at the time battling colonial powers, Russia has always maintained close relations to Africa.

Observers have long predicted that Muhoozi Kainerugaba will succeed his 78-year-old father Yoweri Museveni.
