President Paul Kagame, First Lady to grace global fintech forum in Kigali,President Paul Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame are scheduled to deliver keynote speeches at the upcoming global Inclusive Fintech Forum, where they will elaborate on the significance of technology in promoting financial inclusion.

Taking place from June 20 to 22, the forum will convene over 2,000 global regulators, policymakers, decision-makers, founders, and investors. It will feature around 100 keynote speakers and is organized by the Kigali International Financial Centre (KIFC) and Elevandi, a company established by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) to advance Fintech in the digital economy.

The primary objective of this platform is to stimulate discussions and generate innovative solutions related to inclusive and sustainable FinTech, with a particular focus on the Global South encompassing Asia, Latin America, and Africa.

The forum aims to develop strategies for the inclusive and sustainable advancement of Fintech through in-depth roundtable discussions, workshops, and the showcasing of exemplary inclusive Fintech projects. It will incorporate various components such as keynote speeches, the Founders Peak highlighting influential entrepreneurs, knowledge and ecosystem stages, the capital meets policy dialogue, and an exhibition.

The discussions will center around digital payments and lending, exploring how to implement affordable and scalable interoperable payment infrastructure, as well as affordable lending products for low and middle-income segments. Additionally, topics such as micro-wealth management, insurance and pensions, capital markets infrastructure, and ESG financing (Environment, Social, Governance) will be addressed.

The overall objective is to enhance financial inclusion by promoting equitable, accessible, and sustainable fintech development worldwide through the development and promotion of public goods, infrastructure, and financial literacy.

This high-level gathering is particularly significant as Kigali positions itself as a Pan African hub for FinTech and green finance, with KIFC playing a central role in this ambitious journey. The Norrsken East Africa hub, hosting numerous African startups in the sector, is also located in Kigali, further contributing to its stature.

By attracting foreign businesses and investors, KIFC aims to enhance Rwanda’s competitiveness in the financial sector, making it an ideal destination for fintech and green finance initiatives.
