The founder and director of StarTimes Group, Pang XinXing, was welcomed by President of the Republic Paul Kagame.
On Thursday, July 28, 2023, President Kagame met with Pang Xinxing and the group he heads, according to a statement from the Office of the Head of State in Village Urugwiro.
The Director of StarTimes Group was with the team, which also included Ingabire Paula, the Minister of Technology and Innovation.
StarTimes started working in Africa, starting from Rwanda in 2007, expanding its branches all over Africa, and now it has reached more than 30 African countries.
In addition to growing, StarTimes intends to improve the local workforce, with a focus on young people as a source of potential future growth.
For instance, as part of the StarTimes Technology Institute project in 2018, equipment was provided to Rwandan youths to enable them to watch television in an effort to break their isolation and help them break harmful habits.
It is part of a project called Access to Satellite TV, of the Chinese Government through the StarTimes Technology Center, which aims to distribute television to rural areas across the country.
