April,20,KDN(Kigali)- Other FERWAFA staff members opted to resign from their positions,The General Secretary of the Rwanda Football Association, FERWAFA, Muhire Henry Brulart, has resigned from his position while other staff members include David Iraguha who was in charge of Finance, and members of the Executive Committee such as the Legal Commissioner, Delphine Uwanyirigira and Property Manager, Habiyakare Chantal, and they resigned from their duties.
This change in resignation came one day after Nizeyimana Olivier, the previous two years’ President of FERWAFA, resigned for personal reasons. On April 19, 2023, he made his decision.
According to trustworthy sources, Muhire has already informed the FERWAFA staff of his intention to step down.
It was a choice he made after there had been rumors of management problems in FERWAFA for several days, putting pressure on the organization’s leadership.
Following Iraguha’s resignation, there were rumors that he had a confrontation with FERWAFA’s Technical Director, Gérard Buscher, this morning.
Concerning the controversy with the Frenchman who is intended to improve Rwandan football by offering directions and developing talent, Iraguha stated that it is “false.”
Habiyakare Chantal, the Property Commissioner, is also among those who have resigned.
The Kigali Daily News learned that there is nothing improper because the members of FERWAFA’s Executive Committee may continue to be specialists due to the intended reforms in this football association.
It is planned that the other commissioners will start giving their resignations on the night of this Thursday, the date of April 20, 2023.
After the resignation of some of the commissioners, the members of the Executive Committee held a meeting in which those who have left their duties were approved.
This would occur similarly to what transpired in April 2021 after Rtd Brig Gen Sekamana Damascène, who had led FERWAFA for three years , five commissioners resigned, leaving the Executive Committee with five people who could not make decisions.
Only one month later, the General Assembly was convened to elect Nizeimana Olivier as the President of FERWAFA for the next four years, that is, his mandate was to last until 2025.
After his resignation due to the many mistakes made during his time in office mainly based on governance issues, law dishonesty,corruption and refereeing issues.
Currently, the Vice President of FERWAFA, Habyarimana Marcel, is the one who leads this Association in a transitional manner. The law stipulates that he must call the General Assembly within one month to approve when the election of the new president will be held.
On January 6, 2022, Muhire was announced as the General Secretary of Ferwafa, replacing Uwayezu François Regis who had been there for over five years before resigning.
It was on September 12, 2021 that Uwayezu François Régis, who had been the General Secretary of FERWAFA for three years, resigned from those duties, saying that it was for personal reasons.
His successor Muhire Henry has 10 years of experience in football related activities. He rose to fame when he worked on Radio Flash FM as a sports web host between 2006 and 2011.
He holds Masters Degrees in Arts in Population Studies and Development from Annamalai University in India.
