Miss Uganda revealed that her mother is Rwandan

Hannah Karema Tumukunde, who recently crowned Miss Uganda 2023 and is said to be a Rwandan woman, sparked controversy when she revealed that she is the daughter of a Rwandan mother and a Ugandan father from Ankole, where she was born and raised.

Miss Tumukunde stated this in an interview with journalist MC Kats, who is also a well-known Ugandan entertainer.

When MC Kats asked Miss Tumukunde about rumors that she was crowned Miss Uganda but was not from Uganda, she responded that those who say that are wrong.

“I am a Ugandan who was born in Uganda to a Rwandan mother and father from Ankole in Uganda,” she explained.

This girl is fluent in English, Nyankole, Ugandan and also revealed that she knows  to speak kinyarwanda.

Miss Tumukunde was born in 1998, and was born in Kisasi, Uganda, where she grew up. It is expected that she will represent Uganda in the Miss World competition expected to be held in Dubai.

Due to The COVID-19 pandemic, Miss Uganda had been last held in July 2019, where Oliver Nakakande was crowned the winner.

It returned with a glamorous red carpet-event on Saturday 18th March 2023. that was attended by the elite in the celebrity world.

Levixone, Jackie Chandiru, and B2C Music, among others, performed at the event hosted by Mitch Egwang and Anita Fabiola.
