John Mirenge presented his letters of credence as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Rwanda to the United Arab Emirates to President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The ceremony, which took place on Wednesday, August 16, underscored the commitment of both nations to enhance their bilateral and multilateral cooperation. Mirenge expressed gratitude and dedication to fostering stronger ties between the two nations.
“It is an honor to present to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, my credentials as Rwanda’s Ambassador to the UAE. I look forward to working closely with the UAE to take our bilateral relations to greater heights,” Mirenge affirmed.
Mirenge conveyed the regards of President Paul Kagame and emphasized the shared vision of both countries to strengthen their cooperation across various domains. UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomed Mirenge and reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to advancing the existing relations.
The bilateral connection between Rwanda and the UAE, established in 2015 and 2018 with diplomatic representation in Abu Dhabi and Kigali respectively, has evolved into a robust partnership. Sectors such as Trade and Investment, education, hospitality, and logistics have flourished as pillars of cooperation, fostering mutual growth and development.
The successful crossing of the $1 billion trade milestone between Rwanda and the UAE in 2022 attests to the strength of their economic partnership. As Rwanda continues to demonstrate its potential on the global stage, the UAE remains a steadfast ally in Rwanda’s journey of progress and prosperity.
