This marks their 20th championship, tying them with Manchester United as the teams with the most league titles in history.

Liverpool clinched the trophy on the evening of Sunday, April 27, 2025, during Matchday 34 of the English Premier League, with four games remaining in the season.

Tottenham opened the scoring through Dominic Solanke in the 12th minute, but just four minutes later, Luis Díaz equalized. Before the first half ended, Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo added two more goals for Liverpool.

In the second half, Mohamed Salah extended the lead by scoring the fourth goal — his 28th of the season — solidifying his position as the league’s top scorer. In the 69th minute, Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie scored an own goal, making it 5-1.

The match ended 5-1, sparking celebrations among Liverpool fans. This is their first Premier League title in five years, after their 2019/2020 triumph, which came during the COVID-19 pandemic when celebrations were limited.

Liverpool secured the championship after Arsenal, their closest rivals, failed to beat Crystal Palace on Friday, drawing 2-2.

This result means Liverpool, sitting on 82 points, cannot be overtaken even if they lose their remaining matches, while Arsenal, with 67 points, cannot close the 15-point gap.

Under head coach Arne Slot, who took over in 2024, Liverpool won the title after winning 25 matches, drawing 7, and losing only 2 out of 34 games played so far.

The official trophy presentation is scheduled for May 25, when Liverpool hosts Crystal Palace for their final home game of the season.

Liverpool’s previous Premier League title came in the 2019/2020 season, when they finished with 99 points, well ahead of Manchester City, who had 81.

Over the past decade, Liverpool has consistently been among the top clubs, having finished as low as eighth only once in the 2015/2016 season, while finishing in the top five every other year.
