Kigali Stadium in Nyamirambo is going to be renamed
After the Nyamirambo Regional Stadium has been renovated and the work is completed, it will be given a new name in order to honor Pele, as requested by FIFA.
Following the request made by FIFA’s president, FERWAFA is said to have decided to name the Nyamirambo Stadium after the Brazilian player who has performed miracles in world football, Pele.
This also comes ahead of the FIFA Congress, which will be held in Rwanda on March 13 to elect a new FIFA President to replace Infatino, who has led FIFA until now.
Although the stadium remodeling is almost finished, it is unclear how much money was invested in it.
The CAF release from October 17, 2021, which indicated that the decision to request the renovation was taken after an assessment was carried out at the stadium to see if it fits the requirements, prompted the reconstruction work for this stadium.
FIFA congress coming to Africa is a great opportunity to the continental football leaders, shareholders and the private sector to share their view points towards the development of the game with football actors who are in advance.
So far, several efforts from FIFA in promoting football in Africa are promising and Rwanda is among the countries benefiting these initiatives.
