Kenny Sol follows Ross Kana out of 1:55 AM

Must read

Rwandan artiste Kenny Sol has announced his split with 1:55AM management after just one year working together.

The former Yemba Voice band member is the latest to part ways with the record label a month after Ross Kana also announced his exit.

Announcing the development to their audience, both sides said that they “mutually and amicably agreed to pursue separate creative paths” in a decision which takes effect on Monday, June 2.

Kenny Sol’s exit leaves 1:55AM management’s future in jeopardy with its founder Gael Karomba alias Coach Gael reportedly growing frustrated that he may have invested in a business that doesn’t generate profits.

“I blew a lot of money, helped a lot of people, did a lot of favors, and never asked for anything in return. Now it’s time to put complete focus on myself,” Gael posted on his Instagram back in April.

Kenny Sol joined 1:55 AM in February 2024 after a fruitful conversation with Coach Gael.

Under their management, he released a number of tracks like “One More Time” featuring Tanzanian music star Harmonize, “Enough,” “2 In 1,” No One” featuring Nigeria’s DJ Neptune, “Phenomena” and “Déjà Vu” which he released just before their exit became official.

“As a celebration of the music we’ve created together, we are proud to share our final collaborative single “Déjà Vu” available on all major platforms,” a joint statement reads.

With Kenny Sol and Ross Kana gone, 1:55AM remains with Bruce Melodie and producer Element Eleeeh although the latter is also linked with a move out of the label.

Born Nobert Rusanganwa, Kenny Sol rose to fame after graduating from the Nyundo School of Music and Arts and joining the now-defunct group Yemba Voice alongside Bill Ruzima and Mozzy Yemba Boy.

However, the trio didn’t last long together and, following the group disbandment in 2019, he pursued a solo career which earned him accolades including Best Video of the Year at the Isango Na Muzika Awards 2022.
