Kigali, February 21, 2025 – Renowned American singer and songwriter John Legend has arrived in Kigali ahead of his much-anticipated performance at the Move Afrika concert. The artist, who is known globally for his soulful music, landed at Kigali International Airport on Friday morning, accompanied by his wife, model Chrissy Teigen.

The Move Afrika concert, set to take place at BK Arena on February 21, 2025, will feature John Legend alongside popular Rwandan artists Bwiza and DJ Toxxyk. This event marks a significant moment for the local entertainment industry, bringing international stars to Rwanda’s growing music scene.

Ticket sales for the concert have been in high demand, with only a limited number still available. The ticket prices ranged from 30,000 Rwandan Francs (Frw) for general admission to 135,000 Frw for VIP seating. Despite the high prices, fans have shown strong enthusiasm, eager to witness the Grammy-winning artist perform live.

John Legend becomes the second major international artist to headline the Move Afrika concert, following Kendrick Lamar’s successful show last year. The event is organized in collaboration with Global Citizen, an international advocacy organization focused on ending poverty and promoting social change, in partnership with Rwanda Development Board (RDB).

Global Citizen’s Move Afrika initiative aims to blend music with activism, using high-profile concerts to drive social awareness and encourage action towards global issues. Through live performances, global broadcasts, and leadership summits, the organization works to address urgent humanitarian challenges worldwide.

John Legend is widely celebrated for his heartfelt love songs and inspirational music, with hits like All of Me and Tonight (Best You Ever Had). His visit to Rwanda and participation in Move Afrika further cement his reputation as an artist dedicated to using his platform for positive change.
