On Saturday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was hospitalized due to dizziness caused by apparent dehydration. However, his office stated that he was in good condition and there were no indications of a potential transfer of power.
Energy Minister Israel Katz, a member of Netanyahu’s Likud party, informed Israel’s Channel 13 TV that the Prime Minister would soon return to work, although no specific date was mentioned.
Concerns arose about Netanyahu’s potential absence, considering the country’s ongoing crisis involving a planned judicial overhaul and simmering conflicts with the Palestinians and Iran. To address these worries, Netanyahu released a brief video message from the hospital, expressing gratitude for the well wishes and stating that he felt much better. He advised everyone to spend less time in the sun, drink more water, and wished them a good week ahead.
Netanyahu, who is the longest-serving leader in Israel’s history, mentioned that he had been on holiday at the Sea of Galilee during a heatwave. The temperatures reached 42 degrees Celsius (107.6 degrees Fahrenheit) on Saturday. He was taken to Sheba Hospital near his residence in Caesarea, and reports indicated that he walked into the emergency room and remained fully conscious during transportation.
Although there were mentions of chest pain, no confirmation was available regarding that specific symptom. It was clarified that Netanyahu was not under sedation, and no procedures were being conducted to declare him incapacitated.
His office stated that he was admitted based on his physician’s recommendation after experiencing light dizziness. Initial tests indicated no abnormalities, and dehydration was the preliminary diagnosis. Further routine tests were being conducted, but his condition was reported as fine.
