A mass shooting took place outside the Amazura nightclub in Queens, New York, on Wednesday night, according to media reports citing witnesses and officials. Sources reported that at least 11 people were injured. The New York Post stated that the victims were transported to local hospitals and are expected to survive, as none are in critical condition.
Amazura, a large venue with a 4,000-person capacity, frequently hosts DJs and live performances. A heavy police and ambulance presence was seen at the scene.
The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and no suspects have been identified. Authorities believe the perpetrators fled, and a manhunt is currently underway. The Queens Police Department is expected to provide further updates in an upcoming press conference.
Earlier on Wednesday, the US witnessed two significant incidents – a terrorist attack in New Orleans and an explosion involving a Tesla Cybertruck in Las Vegas.
In the early hours of New Year’s Day, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old US Army veteran from Texas, drove a rented Ford F-150 Lightning pickup truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street in New Orleans’ French Quarter. The attack claimed 15 lives and left over 35 injured. Following the crash, Jabbar exited the vehicle and engaged in a gunfight with police, during which he was fatally shot. Authorities discovered an Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) flag in his truck and explosives at the scene, prompting the FBI to classify the incident as a terrorist act.
Later that day, a Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas. The vehicle, rented in Colorado through the Turo app, contained firework mortars and gas canisters, suggesting the explosion was intentional. The driver was killed, and seven others sustained minor injuries. Authorities are investigating the explosion as a possible act of terrorism and are examining potential links to the New Orleans attack due to similarities in rental methods and timing.
