Guelette on brink of Belgian topflight qualification with Raal La Louviere

Must read

Rwandan international Samuel Gueulette is just one win away from helping his club, Raal La Louviere, secure promotion to Belgium’s top-flight league.

Raal, a newly promoted side in the Belgian second division, currently sits third with 56 points. League leaders Zulte Waregem and second-placed RWDM both have 57 points.

On Friday night, Raal will travel to face Lommel, while Zulte Waregem and RWDM square off at the same time. Regardless of the outcome in that match, a victory for Raal would guarantee them one of the two automatic promotion spots to the Jupiler Pro League for the 2025/26 season.

Gueulette has been a key figure in midfield this season, making 25 appearances, scoring once, and providing one assist. Speaking ahead of the crucial fixture, he emphasized the importance of focus and belief.

“Anything can happen—we’ve witnessed that throughout this season, especially in recent weeks. Now, our destiny is in our hands. We have a massive game ahead of us, and it starts with overcoming Lommel. It won’t be easy, but we have to stay sharp and stick to our game,” Gueulette told the press.

Remarkably, Raal La Louviere were competing in Belgium’s fourth division as recently as 2022, but back-to-back promotions have brought them to the brink of top-tier football.
