Fidele Mitsindo, a former Member of Parliament in Rwanda, has passed away at the age of 58. According to a family source, Mitsindo died on Friday, December 6, at Rwanda Military Hospital.
The family has announced plans to honor his life with a memorial evening on Monday, December 9, followed by his burial on Tuesday, December 10.
Mitsindo served as a Member of Parliament starting in 2006 and was a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Security and Territorial Integrity. A dedicated member of the Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) political party, he played a significant role in shaping Rwanda’s legislative landscape.
Before his parliamentary tenure, Mitsindo held key administrative roles. He served as Bourgmester (Mayor) of Giciye Commune, now part of Nyabihu District, and later as Prefect of Gisenyi Prefecture during the critical post-genocide period. His contributions in these capacities were instrumental in rebuilding and stabilizing local governance.
