President Kagame’s team and Jay Jay Okocha defeated Infantino’s Team and Cafu
President Kagame and the Rwandan team, which included Jay Jay Okocha of Nigeria, defeated Gianni Infantino, the head of FIFA, which also included Cafu of Brazil.
It was the first match played in the competition between the teams of football veterans as one of the activities of the 73rd FIFA General Assembly which is being held in Kigali.
The opening match brought together the Rwandan team including President Paul Kagame and the FIFA team including Gianni Infantino.
Rwanda won this match 3-2 and continues in the next round.
Nigerian Augustine Azuka Okocha, popularly known as Jay-Jay Okocha, scored three goals for Rwanda in this game.
The 49-year-old Okocha played for various clubs including Paris Saint-Germain F.C. of France and Hull City of England.
The FIFA team was won by Brazilian Marcos Evangelista de Morai [Cafu]. The right-sided winger has played for various clubs including AC Milan and AS Roma in Italy.
The Rwanda team is coached by Mashami Vincent, who is currently the coach of Police FC, who has also been the coach of Amavubi National Team. It includes President Kagame; Jay Jay Okocha; Jimmy Mulisa, Karekezi Olivier, Murangwa Eugène, Nshimiyimana Eric, Kayiranga Jean Baptiste, Ngabo Albert played Amavubi; Mateso Jean de Dieu coach Kiyovu Sports; Nizeimana Olivier who leads FERWAFA; Nyinawumuntu Grace who runs the Sports Club of Paris St Germain in Rwanda and others.
This game is one of the matches played in the competition between eight teams, including the World Football Confederation, the FIFA team and the Rwandan team that hosted the FIFA General Assembly.
This tournament is being held at the Kigali Pelé Stadium located in Nyamirambo. This stadium was inaugurated by President Paul Kagame and Gianni Infantino after renovation.
The renovation work of Kigali Stadium started on January 4, 2023. The works included replacing the existing carpets, changing the roof, renovating the roof and painting.
This tournament was played before the 73rd FIFA General Assembly convened in Kigali City, which will also approve Gianni Infantino as the head of the World Football Association on March 16, 2023.
