A deadly attack launched by the M23 rebel group in the Lunyasenge area near Lake Edward claimed the life of Lieutenant Daniel Ngoie, a senior FARDC officer and trained legal expert. His death has left his family and friends in deep mourning as tributes continue to pour in.
Sources close to the late lieutenant revealed that several warnings had been issued urging FARDC troops not to launch attacks against AFC/M23. Instead, they advised soldiers to consider joining the Allied Revolutionary Coalition (ARC) as a means of safeguarding their lives.
In a statement issued by the FARDC command, the army reaffirmed its right to retaliate as long as M23 attacks persist, emphasizing their commitment to defending the country’s sovereignty.
Lieutenant Ngoie’s death has reignited concerns over the fragile security situation in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, where continued clashes between FARDC forces and M23 rebels have led to further loss of life and widespread instability among local communities.
